Mawella beach is as beautiful as ever.

This is what The Teak House is all about - direct access to not one but two breathtakingly beautiful tropical beaches. No need to mind the crowds.

The fishermen are back.

We have had two large fishing boats 'parked' on our beach for ever. Every year, in high season, the itinerant fishermen who man the boats arrive in December and fish our waters for three to four months before moving on to their boats in other parts of the island. Sadly, due to the construction of a huge anti-erosion wall on a large frontage of the beach, the fishermen were confounded in 2019/2020 and did not appear.

They are now back. Such good news. We can play 'trip' again when running on the beach and pop down to choose today's freshest fish once they have hauled in the net. You can always help them too! Good start to 2021.

Southern Expressway is open.

After a wait of 17 years, we are delighted to let you know that the final section of the Southern Expressway was vested a week ago! It will now take between 2 and 2 and a half hours to travel the 234km from Colombo Airport to The Teak House. It is expressway all the way but the last 15 minutes.

Tangalle has become easily accessible and we are utterly delighted!

After the tragedy of 2019 and two years of Covid tyranny, Sri Lanka is now fully restored and open for business. We look forward to welcoming you to The Teak House, our little piece of paradise.
